Shift happens

This is something anyone who wants to understand Web 2.0 - and the seismic change it is going to have on what we do, who we know and what we want -  needs to see:

Now the question is, how do we in a Web 2.0 world get anything done?

This is a mind-numbing video that takes us on a journey and leaves me with a lot more questions at the end than when I started.

Regardless of all the high-level thoughts that we need to engage in to set the protocols and framework for all of this, the question remains - how as humans will we encounter, shape and manipulate THIS environment?

For example, I noted that Second Life just banned gambling. In the coverage of that, the reporter noted that once people learned to use Second Life, the two main activities were gambling and sex. This, in the context of some of the most amazing graphics and virtual abilities to travel, explore, and fly within Second Life, underscores the human aspect to technology.

Or was it ever thus?

All I've to say is WOW -- very cool video -- thanks for sharing. There are people at my work (the MeglaHive) that have no clue as the power of involved with this brave new world, and don't realize that it is invading all areas of our lives.

Nice post Bob - the video concisely tells the digital ethnography of the web! I think that "Shift Happens" as a concept describes future changes as well. Our ongoing challenge is to utilize tools to be better users of information.
