Noah's Wish
Amongst the tragedy and devastation of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, there are a very few small, precious glimmers of hope, relief and happiness. One of them is the good work being done by the 65–member animal rescue team of Noah’s Wish, an California–based non-profit that goes to disasters worldwide to help rescue pets and help unite them with their owners.
There are few things more heartbreaking than being forced to leave a cat or dog who is a member of your family behind when you have to evacuate.
As of this morning, the vets, vet techs and volunteers at the animal shelter being run by Noah’s Wish and the Slidell Animal Control agency had over 270 animals being cared for, had started a lost pet registry, were taking over the less serious cases for the Louisiana State Veterinary School and were starting to reunite pets with their families.
If you have pets, and you know how heart broken you would be to be forced to abandon them, make a donation in the name of you non-human family members at http://www.noahswish.org/Donations.htm.
If you don’t have pets, or wonder what why give a dime when thousands have died and hundreds of thousands of people need help, consider that your donation to Noah’s Wish will be money they spend later today in the Katrina Disaster Zone to help prevent the further compounding of tragedy, loss and sorrow for those who have already lost so much.
